Eczema on 4mo old
I have a 4mo old boy who has eczema. I’ve been off dairy for almosta month now & it’s better when I don’t eat it, but it didn’t goaway. He has patches here & there all over but there are a few badspots on his head that are not healing & bother him.
There are some other allergens I eat that I’m thinking could becontributing - wheat, soy, peanut butter, eggs. I’d rather not haveto give up everything all at once; if I try one at a time, whatorder would be best in terms of allergen response? How long should Igive it to see a difference?
Also, could yeast be playing any part of it? He had issues at birththat required antibiotics & I did too. He’s nursing exclusively & Itake Primal Defense for a probiotic. I’d rather not do GSE onlybecause when I did with my daughter when she was a baby she had apretty big reaction to it. I really don’t give the baby anything bymouth right now.
Also, I’ve heard of chiropractic adjustments helping. I don’t wantto do that forever, but I’d try it for a while if there was any hopeof it helping.

My 6mo. old is bothered by dairy and soy so I’d take soy out of your dietalso.

The description of how it appears on his body is just like my son’s problemswhen he was 6 months old. Yeast was the culprit. As dana said - it looks abit like cradlecap.

I was afraid of that - I use soy milk a lot! I guess I could tryDarifree again. I don’t like rice milk & my daughter is allergic totree nuts so I wouldn’t use nut milk in things.

It’s definitely not just cradle cap; in fact I was happy his cradlecap was not that bad & then the eczema developed. It’s on variousparts of him in different formsred rash on cheeksbumps on legs & armsraised bumpy patches on head; some are oozing clear
His dr said it’s “classic baby eczema” & suggested keeping his skinhydrated (which is definitely helping) & using betadine withpolysporin on the oozing parts (also helping).
I had him scratch tested & he came up as no allergies. I know thatdoesn’t mean all that much as my daughter came up okay with dairy &she cannot have dairy at all, & me going off dairy helped the baby’seczema get better, although not gone altogether.
I’m going to try going off wheat & soy as much as I can. If I see ithelping that will be motivating too. I’ll replace soy with darifree(my daughter is allergic to tree nuts & I hate rice milk).
I tried enzymes for myself when my daughter was a baby & she startedprojectile vomiting until I stopped taking them. I was afraid to trywith him due to that.
My son’s nutritionist said I could give the baby a probioticdirectly. What one would be good for him & how much, or is thePrimal Defense I’m taking enough? Any other gentle yeast protocol Ican consider?
