Packing on weight/dealing with poor appetite
My son has lost some weight. I’m not sure how much definitivelybecause the issue of his weght was brought up by my ex onlyrecently. Rigth under my nose I didn’t realize my son as losingweigth so dramtically. If what my ex says is true, our son went from58 lbs to 49 lbs in less than two months since starting his prtocolsin November. He’s nearly seven and was already thin. My ex has adifferent scale than me obviously, but our son is visibly thinner(gaunt even) now that I look back at his school picture fromSeptember. I’m embarrassed that I did not notice this first and onlydid after my ex pointed it out. I guess when it’s right under yournose… Granted I expected some weight loss, but I’m concernedbecause my medical interventions have been a bone of contention withhim throughout our two year divorce and custody litgation. It’s justmore crap I have to defend in the face of the courts and uneducatedattornies. I have my plate full I guess, but I’m not quitting.
Bottom line: He just doesn’t want to eat. He doesn’t have theappetite he used to and even that wasn’t anything spectacular. Theweight loss is so weird because he is eating even less than he didbefore we started supplements. Recently he said I give him too muchfood and last ngiht he says his tummy bothers him when he eats. He’salready on probiotics, digestive aids, zinc, cal-mag, coQ10, Enada, some homeopaths for digestion, candida and liver assistance and bvitamins. I’m scratching my head here wondering how the hell this ishappening and what to do first. Add fats? Add more protien? Both? So, I’d love any input on how to:
A) Get him to eat
B) Pack in some calories, protien and fats.
He cannot have eggs soy or nuts aside from the usual culprits andwe’re treating him for bacterial dysbiosis as well, so I’m trying tokeep his sugars to agave and rice syrup. We are organic and we eatfew processed foods (SF pancake mix and Namaste cake mixes).I’mfollwing the Body Ecology diet to aid in treating his candidaissues, so I’m trying to stick with green apples and pears in amoderate fashion as far as fruit is concerned. I bought some riceprotien powder and am struggling with what to do with it.I knowsmoothies are an option but I’ve never made one and quite franklyskeptical he will drink one. He’s not fond of cold. I’d like to usestevia to sweeten too.
I already use sunflower, coconut, palm, grapeseed and extra virginolive oil in my cooking. I also have recently discovered sunflowerseed butter which does have some reduced cane juice in it, but forthe benefit of some dietary variety, the fact that he likes it andits a healthful source of good fats, I’m making a conscession here.
Any thoughts?
Randi

Certain supplements are notorious for killing the appetite. Bvitamins are one of the worst. If you are giving high doses of Bvitamins, consider cutting back the dose to a quarter or half of whatyou are currently giving.
Increase his fat consumption.
Recently he said I give him too much
Consider giving his foods with enzymes. It is likely he is nottolerating something he is eating, causing an upset stomach.

Glad to know about the B’s. It’s so sad. He HATES taking thatvitamin too and I’m not about to do shots before it becomesabsolutely necessary.
I knew a LACK of zinc would drive appetite down, so I was reallyconfounded by the sudden appetite loss.
I’m not at the liberty of self subscribing or changing my son’streatment doses without his physician’s input right now due divorcelitigation, which if fine. I have enormous confidence in Pathwaysand his physician, Dr. John Hicks. I have just been hemming andhawing about this all week. My bad. Dr. Hicks was orginally DAN!doctor, but he’s gone off and started doing more refined work andbeen. I plan on contacting them tomorrow.
Right now he’s on Digest.
I’m pumping him with organic extra virgin olive oil and sunflowerseeds. We’ll see if it makes any difference.
Unfortunately zinc is preferred to be taken on an empty stomach.I’ll check into changing that as well.

My first thought is adding some amino acids, but I have no clue about whichone(s) you should use. Do you have an enlightened healthcare practitionerthat’s helping you?

Just my experience….but upping the zinc I seem to get a betterappetite….Besides the oral supps I started Kirkmans Zinc creme (2x a day)and I started seeing more grazing and just all round better appetite in my 3yr old.I upped zinc because of mouthing & teeth grinding and increased appetite wasan added surprise so I keep dosage up.
