Tests to order
Just returned from a DAN doctor and he is recommending stool analysis, nutritional analysis from spectralabs (I think, almost 400$) and ametals antibody test ($400). I do have a BCBS PPO and was hoping todo more of the tests from greatplains as they direct bill. Anythoughts on additional tests or alternate tests from greatplainsinstead of spectra labs and/or immunoscience labs. Anyone do the fullautism panel of ab tests (very expensive 1200$)?? Are these testsreally necessary? We are willing to find the money to help our son,but don’t want to do a bunch of tests if they are not needed.
I have ordered some test kits from great plains lab, mercury in theblood, neutroantibodies and stool analysis, hoping insurance will pay.
Also, where do you buy calcium supplements? I bought culturelle forprobiotics and wasn’t sure what dosage to start with? Or should Iwait for the stool tests to come back?
Any thoughts would be great and thanks!

We fo all of our “normal blood work” for calcium, zinc, CBC and soon at our local children’s hospital.
We use Great Plains for everything else and I love their lab.Everyone has their favorite and them being BCBS PPO is definately aplus. They know what they’re doing and also have a bio-chemist namedPam that you can make free phone consults with and go over all testresults.
All of great plains metals testing is sent straight to Doctors DataLab so if your DAN! suggest getting a metals test done at DDL tellhim that GPL does send all metals test there. They are just themiddle man and insurance pays for it. I also like their way oftesting a lot better than DDL. DDL does not do a thorough OAT testin my opinion and GPL test showed many more things out of wack thanDDL in our situation.

What exactly does a Metals Antibody test show you?
Looking for blood levels of mercury is helpful if you think there isa current mercury exposure (mercury leaves the blood quickly anddeposits in tissue). Blood levels will not give you an indicationof his body burden of mercury. A hair test from DDI would be muchmore helpful as less invasive. That runs about $80 if you haven’tdon’t so already.
If you are chelating, then I understand the thought behind a bloodmercury level test; although urine or feces would be a better way tomeasure excretion.
Good luck to you!

The nutritional analysis sounds interesting. For metals, I wouldrecommend a DDI hair test. You can order that thru Great Plains.
This will only give you info on mercury exposures during the last 3months or so, it won’t tell you what is hiding in the tissues.
