Next steps on diet

We had our visit with our doc a fortnight ago. He said to keep goingwith diet but challenge it to guage reactions. He is sending out ahair analysis kit to test for heavy metals.

He asked a few questions about my boy and since he doesn’t appear tohave gut problems or intolerances to food I figure I’m wasting mytime. He said to give him epson salt baths and to get hold of DPPIVand to give this to him each meal. After all of that is done he willperform a urine test to test for bad bacteria.

He sent me off with a whole lot of paperwork. I’m just doubting thewhole process now. Louis has been gfcf for a couple of weeks andthere really isn’t any change (worst luck).

Hi, we will also be testing my son for food reactions. Actually, Iordered a test kit to test the Gluten/Casein peptides. I just gotthe kit today, so we still have to do it. My son is ASD and hasbeen GFCF for 2 months now. The diet has made improvements but notdramatically like maybe others have experienced. After about threeweeks one of the first things we noticed was his eye contact hadimproved so much. I have also noticed that after two months some ofhis stimming behaviors have decreased. By that I mean we are able toget his attention away from the “behavior” and onto something else, where as before he wouldn’t give you the time of day. Before, whenwe would take him outside, he spent his time staring at the wheels ofour Jeep, circling around it to look at each tire. He barely noticedanything else around him. Now, when we take him outside, he doesnteven look at them. He enjoys his swing set and other toys we bringoutside and plays with them appropriately. Much better than watchingyour son circling around the jeep all the time, it was sadening tolook across the street and see the other kids playing like normal andsee your own kid be so oblivious to the things around him.You have to remember that none of this happens “over night”. Imyself had doubts in the beginning but now I see that this has helpedhim. It is overwhelming and It’s hard at first but if you want totest for food allergies you can order test kits that will tell youeither way. I ordered mine through http://www.greatplainslaboratory.comThe test kits are free but the cost to have the tests done areexpensive. But at least you will know for sure if the Gluten/Caseinis a problem for him. IF it is a problem, then the diet WILL workfor him, it takes time, sometimes a few months. What I learned is totry not to stress over it so much, keep note of his behaviors. It’slike they disappear or decrease as slowly as they first came on, soit’s hard to tell sometimes. Some things may seems so small that youdon’t notice that he/she doesn’t do it anymore. Give it some timeand don’t give up.

Is your child ASD as well or similar disorder?

Incidentally, we had a urine test done after using a transdermal DMSAcream. His results came back……….. highly elevated levels ofMERCURY in his body. We are starting chelation next weekend toremove the mercury from his body.

Also, we have to start him on probiotics because HE TOO had all thattesting done. His “good bacteria growth” was virtually non-existant,and his “bad bacteria” was high. The dan doctor tells us this is whywe have had so many issues with his bowels, i.e.,diarrhea/constipation. I can let you know how this works if yourchild has same results.

Bottom line……..try to be open minded about the process. Yourchild is depending on you for help. Whatever that “help” might needto be. Believe me, when I first started reading about Autism, thediet, and the remedies, I thought, this is so far out there. You’llalso get resistance from regular medical doctors but it’s becausethey have not studied all the natural approaches. They just know toprescribe drugs and send you on your way. It’s what they have beentrained to do. Of course they’ll say anything else is a crock. Butmy point is, if they haven’t studied these other approaches, how canthey comment on whether or not it will work?

Well, I just wanted to share my experiences because you sounded alittle down on your post. It’s normal to feel that way, I did too,but now that I have been doing the diet for just over 2 months I havea much different outlook on things. Anything is worth a shot!!

If you have any questions about the process this is the best place tobe, trust me. I am curious about what your results will be from thehair testing. I didnt think the hair testing was considered anaccurate measure for results. Let me know.

If you want to use enzymes instead of food removals, my kids left gfcfwith HNI Peptizyde

For other food intolerances, consider Zyme Prime and/or No-Fenol enzyme.
