Dry cereal
Our 4 year old son with autism doesn’t eat much, and I’m looking for acereal that he will eat that is wheat/gluten/casein/corn/phenols/andmostly sugar free. We just found out he’s sensitive to corn, and thePuffins I have been using has corn flour in it. Where can I findother cereal?

Anyway, if you want to buy GF/sugar free cereal, you’ll probablyeither have to go to a healthfood store, or to the natural foodssection of your local supermarket. (We used to have to buy everythingat the healthfood store, but our local supermarket chain startedcarrying healthfood in a special section of the store.) Once you’rein the right place, you can start reading labels. Besides the obviousingredients (wheat, rye, barley) watch out for “malt” (it containsgluten). One cereal I think is okay is “Rice Crunch ‘Ems.” (Sorry Ican’t remember who makes it.) Look for cereals that are fruit-juicesweetened.
My son eats oats now, so the cereals I’ve been buying contain oats.There is some disagreement about whether or not oats contain gluten.If you’re just starting out, you should probably avoid oats.

Does anyone know what kind of cf cheese is good? I would like to find onethat actually melts in the oven, when you put it on top of a caserole.

Unfortunately, the only cheeses that I know of that “melt in the oven” haveadded casein. You need to read the labels carefully. Sometimes they look likethey’re dairy free but they’re not.

I don’t know, I like Follow your Heart Cheeses. If you cook them longenough they bubble up and get gooey, very similar to regular chesse.Toffuti also melts if you cook it carefully.
