Is it possible to use a prescription numbing cream (e.g. EMLA) tolessen or prevent pain during prick and intradermal allergy testing?Does it interfere with test results?
what does that all stand for? The whole name… We’re gonnahave to have my son’s blood drawn again for allergy testing and i’mREALLY interested in that stuff! LOL I think it’s worse for us. Lasttime we had it done, my husband and i both had to help. I had to layon him to hold him down and my husband had to help hold his armstill. I’m a small lady so i didn’t hurt my son. LOL But still, ihate to have to do that! And i’m not looking forward to having theblood test done again but that’s the only way to tell if the diet isdoing what it should be doing. sigh…

I am going to have the same problem soon. We have had our son’sblood taken before but not for a long time. We are going to our DANdr in FEB (the soonest we could get there!) My son is HUGE (50pounds) so both my husband and I are going to have to help. It isNOT going to be fun. I am dreading it. Oh well, it’s in their bestinterest.

your son is about like my son. My son weighs 45 lbs. and isvery strong. LOL And the last time, he yelled all the way throughit. It was horrid to watch. But i hope and pray that he doesn’t holda grudge. I’m gonna ask the doctor about that EMLA stuff. That wouldhelp. The first time, afterwards, we took him to ToysRus. Thathelped. We wouldn’t have to have the blood test done again butthe doctor wants it done. But it does help to see if things havechanged for the better….or worse.

I am a pediatric nurse. We use Emla on our kids before shots. We usually putthe cream on 1 hour before a shot. You put it on where you think they will drawthe blood. I would recommend a couple of spots. Works most of the time. Doesn’thelp with the anxiety.
