Substitute for baking powder

I know that there has been mention of substitutes for baking powder, butmy son can’t have the stuff we buy since he is allergic to ( I didbuy the aluminum free kind) and on his list of allergies, he cannot havecream of tartar (which is the substitute, right?) Can I just use bakingsoda and what would the ratio be? I’m thinking 1/2.

Of course they are out, so I just put myself on thewait list. Maybe I’ll go ahead and try the baking soda and see if itworks.

Make my own baking powder. My son’s can’t have corneither. I don’t know what you’d use to replace the cream of tartar. The recipe i have calls for part baking soda, part arrowroot powderand then part cream of tartar. I will find the measurements and postthem for you if you’d like.
