Second child stats
I think it’s interesting that so many people are saying 50% chance of a secondchild with autism. This is the first I’ve heard this. I’ve heard 6-10% chance. We have a 2 yr. 8 mo. old with autism, and a 10-month old we’re watchingclosely. He stopped getting vaccinations after one at his 6-month visit, 2 daysafter hearing of his brother’s diagnosis and not knowing enough to stopcompletely. We always watch him carefully and anything “out of the ordinary”causes us much anxiety, but we think he’s okay so far. Has anyone else heard a6-10% chance?

My #3 did not tolerate mB12 until I reduced the dose and added folicacid. You can try squirting out a small amount from the syringe, toreduce the remaining amount, and then give that to her. Or, add folicacid. My #3 was able to tolerate more mB12 when I gave it to him withfolic acid.
I use mB12 sublinguals, which work GREAT for my kids.
Also, B12 tends to feed yeast. Increase your yeast protocol and seeif that helps.

Tami,
There is a huge study that NAET is starting soon. They are takingpatients to do 50 free treatments. Just wanted to post that incaseyou didn’t know about it. It’s on the www.naet.com website.
I really do think that it works for many kids. I believe that it’shelping my friend’s son more than anything has in the past 3 years.Even more than therapies. He’s putting sentences together and usinga crayon (which he wouldn’t do before) and many of his severe foodallergies are now minimal. He is deathly allergic to milk, eggs, andall dairy. He’s also deathly allergic to all nuts and most seeds.
His throat closed up one time when someone kissed him at a familyfunction who had been eating peanut butter crackers and he was inthe hospital for a week. That allergy is not gone but it’s no wherenear the severity that it was.

I must add my story to this, talk about timing. Last month myheating bill came and it was over 400.00 bucks for the month and atthe same time I was watching a tv show for the company mentionedbelow. I knew I had to do something so I signed up for their samplerpackage. I received the kit within one week and I am so happy withthe savings ever since. Now I can offset these spirling energy billsand save a ton of money all year long!
[original mssage]
As amazing as it may sound many people do not realize how easy it isto legally stop paying for their groceries! This is how the one hourtelevision show began for the company whose website is at:http://savemorethanever.com I thought it was very interesting anddecided to check it out. I am very skeptical by nature so the firstthing I did was check out the company. I contacted the BetterBusiness Bureau and found that the company has had no complaintslodged against them, I also contacted Paypal who has verified thiscompany. They told me that they verified the company’s licenses, bank accounts and other paperwork indicating to them that thecompany is legitimate. Then I started asking co-workers and friendsabout this program and to my surprise 6 out of the 10 people that Ispoke with were already using this program. They told me how pleasedthey were with it and how much money they had saved and arecurrently saving. So I decided to sign up for this program on12/1/05. On 12/8/05 I received my complete sampler membershippackage and the fun began. Using their program and the free lifetimemembership that it includes I went to the supermarket ready to makea killing. The cashier rang up my grocery bill and it came out to$239.87 then I presented her with the coupons I received from thisprogram and I saved $223.38 - my final bill was only $16.49! Thecashier wasn’t the only one shocked. This program has changed mylife!

I have read that it is a 50 percent greater chance. I have a second child, 18months old. So far we have not seen any signs of autism. He has been wonderfulfor is big brother, I think it has really helped his language to have a youngerbrother.

I have read it is 50% as well however since my son is vaccinedamaged and I’m not vaccinating my 16 month old son we think thereis 0% chance. Fallon (my youngest) shows no signs of Autism and ispassing a few milestones that Sasha has yet to meet.

I dont know how true any of it is. But as I understand it. The risk of a secondchild is a little bit greater than the general public, but also a bit higher tohave a child on the opposite end. For example say the risk was 11 percent ofhaving a child with clear cut autism, it may be 15 percent or so of having achild with a milder autism spectrum disorder. My pediatrician friend with onetwin with autism and one without (fraternal) also tells me that if you have onechild with say severe autism, and you do end up with an afflicted child, theywill more likely to be on opposite end(mild) or vice versa. With that beingsaid. I have one severe child fully vaccinated. One daughter in between whom isfully vaccinated, and not autistic, and one 4 year old whom is not vaccinatedand he is very mild on the spectrum

I would love an answer to that one. I just had my second baby in July….he hasno signs of having autism yet….but sometimes you don’t see any signs untilthey are 12-18 months. My neurologist told me that when you have one child withautism….you have a 50% chance of the second child having it.

Dana,
I am giving her probiotics but no other yeast protocol. Our Dan!dotcor started MB12 before anything and told us not to add or removeany supplements until after the 5 weeks trial period. Any idea whatyeast control we could use under such circumstance?
Thank you.

GFCFKids@yahoogroups.com, Tamiduncan@a… wrote:get eggsprocesspressureHi, I’m new here but felt like chiming in on this one. My son Lukehas had chronic ear infections since 18 months of age includingpersistant fluid and four ruptured eardrums. We have triedliterally everything (homeopathic treatments, cranial sacraltherapy, allergy meds, antibiotics, chiropractic adjustments, etc)to resolve his ear infections with the exception of PE tubes.Unfortunately none of the above treatments cleared up his earinfections. Luke began NAET with BioSet treatments almost a monthago. I took him for his third treatment and was told his earslooked “perfect”. I was stunned and I cried most of the visit (happytears). My husband and I are absolutely delighted with our resultsthus far. Luke hasn’t been diagnosed ASD at this point. At 33months of age he was diagnosed with a severe communication delay andmild OCD behaviors. He is 3 years and 3 months now and has madehuge improvements in his speech developement. I am cautiouslyoptimistic about NAET treatments. But so far we have seen amazingresults for our child.

Yes, I still struggle with memory issues but it is better since my GI tractis doing better. Some scientist at one of the Dan Conference ( I saw thevideo) said heconsidered the stomache to be the second brain. He said if the stomache isnot functioning properly, neither does the brain. I have found following avery strictGFCF and sugar free diet is helping tremendously not only my stomache butalso my memory and cognitive functioning. The blood tests help alot to pinpointproblems, defiencies so your not guessing. Keep searching for things thatwork and stick with that. There is a lot of help out there it is just amatter of findingwhat works for you since we are all so different. All my resources (news, DAN doctor, literature) all point to 1 outof 10. I am in your EXACT same situation. We are watching veryclosely, but we stopped vaccinations at the 4 month mark. Ouryoungest son got one shot at birth with Thimerasol (we found outlater of course), but he has been doing very well. Our oldest sondidn’t have symptoms until after many shots with Thimerasol (normalshots plus flu shots). We are hopeful for our second son that weintervened quick enough.

I also was pregnant when my daughter started to regress and we realizedsomething was wrong. Claudia (ASD) is 2.4 and her baby sister is 4 months. Iam not vaccinating her and have gotten huge resistance from everyone- My doctorrefuses to see Keira anymore (although she will still see Claudia- That autismis a money maker :)- Needless to say, I have a new pediatrician who is muchmore open to our issues. In watching videos, I agree that there is a hugechange in her after her 1 year shots (including the MMR). I don’t know if ithad theromsol (sp), but I have proof my child was completely normal before that. Many people in this group do not believe there is a connection between theshots and autism, but I def. do. My baby isn’t going to daycare and doesn’tneed the 25+ shots before the age of 2… I have read in many places that the chance of having a child with autism isless if it is a girl. I have consistently read 5-7% chance overall.

What I’ve heard is more along the line of what you say, Jennifer. It cannot be a 50-50 chance… the media would be all over that one!
I wouldn’t be surprised if the average woman had a 50% chance ofhaving a child with ‘issues’ after having a child with Autism, though. That is, if their child regressed after vaccinations andthey vaccinated the next child. Language delays, motor planningproblems, ADD, etc.
I have 2 older kids that developed normally. How does that figurein to the stats?
Props to you for stopping the vaccines on your youngest childdespite the pressure you probably received. I’m sure you arenervous.

When my older son got his formal diagnosis from the developmental pediatrician,I was advised not to have more children because there was a “good chance” thatthey would have ASD or a related disorder.
My second son was a baby at the time and was already GFCF–we weren’t takingany chances. He also had some of the same allergy treatment that my older sonhad. He had some mold sensitivities and I think we were able to prevent aproblem with yeast before it really became a problem for him. This second sonis very social and we’ve never had any concerns about his development.

i just read your mail about the doctors advising you not to have any morechildren because of the high risk of ASD. i have 5 older daughters who developednormally, arron is the only one with ASD in my family and he is the youngest.granted he is my only boy and boys are 25% more likely to suffer from this thangirls but i dont think that just because you have one child with ASD you aremore likely to have another one with the same condition. its just the ” luck ofthe draw”.
