On scd & gfcf
My child is on SCD & GFCF.
She started on SCD Intro Diet a on 11/25, that consists of chickenbroth, chicken, carrots and home squeezed apple juice. Then Iintroduced spinach, which made her really gassy. So I stopped givingspinach. Then I gave banana which made her gassy and her response gotworse.
Questions:1. When is a food considered a problem and should be discontinued? Ifshe becomes really gassy, is that a sign to stop giving it?2. If a food keeps appearing undigested, in her poop, should I stopgiving it?3. How do I “introduce new food slowly”? Do I give it for one day andwait for 3 days for response? Or do I continue to give itcontinuously for 3 days and then stop for 3 days to watch forresponse?4. After I gave bananas, her tantrum increased and her responsivenessgot worse. Could that be yeast? Any suggestion on what I could do forthat?
Sorry for the long mail and thank you in advance.

If food is still appearing undigested in her poop then it may be aleaky gut issue. I would stop giving that food for a while. If youhave to stick with a couple of foods until her gut heals then do so.We stuck with pancakes and pizza for about 2 months until my son’sgut healed.
Banana issue sounds like Phenol intolerance. We added an enzyme madeby Kirkman’s called Phenol Assist and all the issues went away. Itworked really well for my son and he has no Phenol reactionsanymore.
Foods are usually considered a problem when you see any type ofgassy, bloating, regression, tantrum, or any other autistic behaviorthat starts up that she normally wouldn’t do. I would certainlydiscontinue them….
Have you been on http://www.pecanbread.com yet? Being on SCD I’m sure youhave but it’s a great website and there is also a SCD diet messageboard on yahoo called pecanbread.
