Ten autism websites were chosen for social contact. In every casethe autistic girl blended in & made friends. But when it came to theguy, 80% of the time his posts were ignored in the same groups. Boththe girl & guy used the same lines to attempt social connection.

I am an AS female, altho my name can go either way and I often receiveemail which addresses me as male.
I don’t respond to social messages, nor do I write social messagesmost of the time, especially on public message boards. In my earlydays online, all that did was cause problems. People who write to meprivately on an on-going basis can attest to the fact that anyattempts I make at being social are entirely too pathetic. In public,I only respond to messages which ask for information regardingspecific situations, and if I have information which I believe may beuseful. I am not “chatty”.
I don’t believe I “blend in” on any of the message boards that I use. I definitely have not “made friends”. But that is not my intent. Mygoal is NOT to “blend in”, it is to “not stand out”, which is muchmore achievable, at least for me.
Is your intent to try to be social? Perhaps this is not the rightmessage board to use. Altho this message board includes support, itis primarily focused on parents who are trying to recover theirchildren using biomedical approaches to address the biomedical issuesof autism. Try writing a message which asks for information,opinions, or other questions. You will probably receive severalreplies from people who can tell you what resolved that issue forthemselves or their children, or suggestions or information on whatyou can consider.
