Diaper rash

I know I have read some posts where folks areconcerned about BM’s and the resulting diaper rash.Jake’s BM’s lately had really caused some MAJORirritation to the skin in his diaper area. I readthat if something changes in Candida’s environment(like acidity) it will increase. By changing his diet(which went up in dramatically)perhaps I upset some sort of balance his body had.I sent my Mom to get me some powder for Jake’s bottomand she brought me Gold Bond Medicated Powder. (If itis ok would someone let me know?) I don’t know if itis gfcf but it cleared up most of the rash veryquickly.I switched to cornstarch out of gfcf concerns and therash has returned very quickly. I read somewhere elsethat a rash in a moist area may be a Candida infectionand yeast like to eat cornstarch. So maybe I’m makingit worse?!Has anyone tried any of these treatments for severediaper rash?

anti-fungal (athlete’s foot/jock itch/anti-yeast)medicine containing chlortrimazole or undecylenate (US: Mycil, Lotromin) for Candida (yeast) infections, lactobacillusacidopholous powder (this is the bacterium that turns milk into yogurt). It is available incapsule form and usually sold in health and nutrition stores. Open the capsules and sprinkle the powderon affected areas before bed.

Also, has anyone using Nystatin found that it helpedwith chronic diaper rash?

My son Nicholas (2 1/2) has had terrible diaper rash from the timehe was born. He had thrush for the first 7 monthes of his life. Ournew doctor said the the little red bumps that are always on his fannyare yeast. Also- I’ve noticed that some foods like bananas make hisentire fanny bright red on thier way out. It stays that way a fewdays until they are out of his system then it gets better. He is onboth the oral Nystatin and the cream- neither of which seem to doanything.

I’ve noticed a few posts, lately, about diaper rash.My dds (16 mo TD, and 3 yr ASD) are prone to rashes (I’m guessingyeast is the culprit). Anyway, after trying a vast variety of OTCand home remedies, I have found one that seems to work consistently -castor oil! I use this all over the diaper area, every change - wehave been entirely rash free (knock wood) for over 6 months!!! Idon’t miss the awful bleeding rashes at all…

Our son had a TERRIBLE case of diaper rash one time, Hand foot and mouthdisease or something??, but had blisters on his bottom, just all of asudden. We were at in-laws who live on a farm and they suggested Bag Balm, those green square cans?? It was amazing how well that worked. Next day itwas a whole lot better..
