Soy milk and estrogen
I am reading your posts and saw where there was an issue with soy milkand estrogen? What is that about? I am slowly trying to get my son offmilk and onto soy milk for this diet but didn’t know about this. Whatis the problem? I wanted the soy milk for the vitamin d and calciumsince supplements are a no go with him and he loves milk. Should I notdo it?
Pizza–any suggestions?
First let me say I can’t cook at all. I bought a ready made crustlast week, and got Amy’s tradional Marinara and the Follow Your HeartVegan Mozzarella and thought it would be okay. Well, it was reallygross!! My 22 month old wouldn’t even touch it even though it lookedvery pretty. I tasted it and it was a good thing he didn’t.
I just received crusts from Kinnikinnick, does anyone have anysuggestions to make an edible pizza? What do you use as pizza sauce?I did buy Prego Traditional but is there any pizza sauce thats GFCF?Is this crust good?
Inability to tolerate efa
Is this possible?Sorry I keep posting with questions like this.
After some recent issues we’ve had, my girlfriend, whose son has beengfcf for 2.5 yrs, suggested that he may not be tolerating the CLO orthe flax that we’ve been giving him.If this is the case, how on earth would he get his EFA’s? Wouldn’tall seeds and oils do the same thing (bowel issues)?
Bananas, breath smell
Really strange question. My son cannot seem to tolerate bananas, and i knowthey are high amine, or something. I think it causes some kind of histaminereaction, but was wondering why they give him this very weird smell to hisbreath, almost chemical like, cant explain it.
Cheese ?
Bob’s Red Mill has a specific “pancake and waffle mix” we’ve used, and thatdoes have the recipe on the package. As for cheese, if your child can have soy,”Tofutti” seems to be the one most often recommended. We used it here untilsoy became an issue.
Magnesium gluconate
I am supplementing my son with magnesium as is suggested with B6. Ipicked up a bottle of mag gluconate at the grocery store (Mason Naturalbrand) that is free of all problem foods. The bottle says 550 mgMagnesium Gluconate. The back of the bottle says contains 30mg ofMagnesium (under the “Supplement Facts” area). My intention is to givemy son about 150 mg/day of this.
Why does it say 550mg on the front of the bottle? This is probably adumb question but I want to be sure that I am giving the correct dosage? Also, is the gluconate version of Magnesium a good version forabsorption, etc?
Any input would be appreciated!!
Chiropractor for a nutritional evaluation for their child
I’m new at this. I started my child on the gfcf diet by eliminatingdairy at first. Then I received special diets for Special Kids andread that it’s best to get an evaluation first. I had been using theChildren with A Starved Brain as a guide. It said starting the dietwas the best way to go. Anyhow, I have an appointment on Monday witha local chiropractor who does nutritional consulting and has kids onthe spectrum in his practice. What has been others’ experiences witha similar situation?

Luna bars
Hello everyone,
We are also just starting the diet, have done dairy and am begininggluten. My son has PDD. One of the books/websites I have visitedsuggested ghiardelli chocolate chips (dark), but the ingredients listmilk fat..is there a different type to buy?
Also, luna bars appear gf/cf free, my son loved them as a mealsubstitute in the past, anyone know whether these are truly okay(obviously high in soy).
