Brown sugar
I recently read that brown sugar can actually contain a milkproduct. Has anybody heard this before? I’m not sure how reliable mysource is so am looking for further verification. Also does anyone knowof any issues- other than yeast- with sweeteners such as molasses orwhite sugar. Do these have potential to be cross contaminated with g/c-corn is also a problem for us. Are there any brands that you reliablyuse with no reactions.
3rd day on diet - son very quiet
hey, I just got my son (back) on the GFCF diet, after doing it half-way for 2 years - I know, it doesn’t work that way! anyway, even thefirst day was amazing! His agression was less than 1/2 of what it wasand the second day he wasn’t agressive at all, very happy and smiling, talking more, all that. However, he has been very hyper, running allaround the house.
well, today (the 3rd day) he is just sitting around, and he had a hugetantrum this morning, pinching and biting - even before he ateanything.
why is this? what happened? any thoughts?
Homemade ice cream
Does anyone know a receipe for GFCF ice cream? I have a smallelectric ice cream machine and would like to try it out.
Chinese skullcap
We recently sought out advice for nutrition and supplements for ouralmost 5 year old son who has been gluten free and casein free for afew months. After an assessment, the chiropractor/nutrionist suggestedwe begin with Chinese Skullcap to take care of the fungus in his largeintestine. Has anyone had experience with this? Results?
Corn, celiac testing, food allergy testing
About my son…
I did an unofficial corn trial (unofficial meaning I didn’t reallytell anyone we were avoiding corn, I just watched what he was eatingand made sure he didn’t eat any obvious corn for a few days). He hadcorn last night and this morning he complained that his belly hurt andtoday he was mellower than usual, a bit obstinant but more easilynegotiable than usual and he pooped and complained that it hurt himand when I wiped he had the red circle (bm was peanut butter coloredand pasty, his usual).
Also, I cut out the vit C he was getting for the last 3 days and 2 outof 3 nights he didn’t wake up (and last night he only woke up becauseI was trying to put salve on his hive-turned-rough patch on his faceb/c he won’t agree to such things while he’s awake ;-).
We’re going to start on on enzymes in a few weeks and work onFeingold/phenols.
He has his 5 year appointment with his ped (a DO) and I’m going torequest a full food allergy panel. What do I want? IgG, IgA, IgE?All of them? I’m really going to push for this so I want to seem likeI know what I’m talking about ![]()
About me…
Now… question for any celiac folks out there. I decided to betested for celiac disease for a couple of reasons, one of which wasthat my grandmother died of stomach/colon cancer at 49 and my fatherreports she was ’sickly all her life’. I got tested before my son andI went gluten free (although I had cut back) and was told the test wasnegative. I decided to get the actual numbers recently and these weremy results:
negative is <20, weak positive is 20-30, positive is >30
Anti-TTG AbIgA 3.7Anti-Gliadin AbIgG 21.6 (weak positive)Anit Gliadin AB IgA 9.4
What the heck does this all mean? What is the difference between IgGand IgA? She said that the weak positive was okay because it balancedout somehow (I got this via the nurse, not the doctor, and my son washollering in the background so I didn’t get a good explaination). I’mconfused.
Cold/flu medicine
I’m looking for a gfcfef cold and/or flu medicine forsymptoms this winter season. Does anyone know of any?
Aba question
I am trying to learn to do ABA for Alyssa. I have NO help. NO consultant, helpers, anything. I can’t afford them. My question is how doyou get started?
Alyssa is very low functioning. She follows very little direction. Has A LOT ofstimming that I just can’t seem to get her to stop. Looking at ceiling, handflapping, crossing her eyes, major stuff with her hands. How do I get her tostop this, or redirect it so that I can get her to “Sit down, Hands down, Lookat Me, Do this…. ya know!
Supplements
My son improved a lot after going on a range of supps. I’d suggest trying TMG orDMG next and also a high dosage of Vit C.You can get it from Kirkman labs. Ithelped my son focus . He is doing well now in a mainstream school.A goodprobiotic is also necessary to help with gut issues. With my son once we sortedout the yeast probs, improvements were tremendous. He also has mercury so wehave put him on mB12 jabs and glutathione. Are not thinking of chelating himthough as he’s doing well .Our biggest breakthrough this year was solving hissleep issues with the use of a Japanese enzyme called Dr Xeniji. We hadpreviously tried Kirkman’s and Houston’s enzymes, zinc , magnesium etc butnothing helped with sleep.
