Raw food diet
I follow a 95% raw food plan, so I would prefer to keep my sons mealsas close to the raw food diet as possible. He is almost 2 years oldand a dr recently suggested I read the book, Special Diets for SpecialChildren. What a shock. I am still in denial that my son exhibits alot of the same special charcteristics I have been reading in the bookand on this board. He already has so many health issues, I am just notready for this.. So I am modifying his diet at this time for hishealth. Once I figure this out I will use my energy to go back to thedr and discuss this with him.
My problem is that I can not find information specifically for autismbased on a raw food diet. Is there one source for information onfruits, vegetables, seeds, and nuts and what I should or should notgive him based only on this?
Are there phenols in all apples or only some? Are they still there if Ipeel the skin.. ( I may be really showing my ignorance now..).
Do these things change when the foods are dehydrated or steamed?
What about almonds, cashews, and other nuts and seeds?
I really appreciated your time. I have learned so much from thisboard.

Hi, I am going to ask probably a dumb question and I hope it doesn’t soundinsulting or anything. (Lord knows we all get those insults!) Anyway, what isthe reason for a raw food diet?
You can find a list of high phenol foods on Dana’s web sitewww.danasview.net/phenol.htm also, she has links for the Feingold diet on hersite.

There may be info on autism at the Hallelujah Acres website (www.hacres.com).Just click on “testimonies” and try to find “autism” in the list ofdisabilities helped by the diet (HA is a Christian raw vegan website). In thebook “RawKids” by Cheryl Stoycoff, she tells the story of her son’s recovery from ADDand LD’s I believe. Good luck with your son! I use some of the raw food/HAprincliples here, especially with my 11yo who has multiple disabilities, but Ihave not been able to transition to raw here at home, fulltime.
