New to diet… need help with milk issue
Just started to implement the diet by removing casein from my 32 monthold son’s diet. Started by switching from cow’s milk to soy milk fordrink at mealtime. Immediately ran into a brick wall. He won’t drinkany flavor or variety of soy milk. I don’t know what to do now to gethim to drink the soy milk. I would appreciate all input and suggestions.

This is probably for the best. For those kids who are highly sensitive tocasein, soy can be just as bad. You are probably better off using almond orrice milk instead.
The rice milk I consider the cleanest and best in quality is 365 brand fromWhole Foods. You get a 10% discount for buying by the case. There is alsoLundberg brand. Pacific makes almond milk, as does Blue Diamond, but BlueDiamond uses some soy lecithin in theirs. The last three brands are sold insome of the larger supermarkets, if you don’t have access to Whole Foods.
You might consider not giving him any milk for a week or two, or even longerand give him juice instead. He’s used to getting the whole milk, and as goodas some of the alternatives taste, they are not the same and he knows it.Also, consider that for some kids milk is like a drug. By giving himsomething else, he’s not getting his fix. So it is normal for him to rejectthe new stuff.
Hang in there, it may take a couple of weeks, but he will eventually acceptthe alternatives. Do remember to fortify his juices with calcium!

This is a great idea! I have 28 mos triplets - Sam is ASD, Ben is NT, andOlivia is mostly NT but somewhat excitable and very dramatic (does that havea label?) They are all mostly GFCF, Sam strictly, the other two cheat nowand then. Olivia wants what anyone is having but Ben is the stickler. Iknow this tactic will work for Ben. Thanks for the great tip!

I don’t know if this helps but my son was picky when it came to soy milk so Itried other types of non-dairy milks until we found one he likes. He prefers analmond milk. You might also try a rice milk with your son. Hope you’ll findone that works.
