Newbie

Our 2.6 son was dx last week with mild ASD. Two months ago, he was dxwith expressive language delay - both by ped neurologists. My DH andI wanted a second opinion and feel is more correct.

Our son speaks about 20 words, has mild stemming (open/close doors,on/off lights), poor eye contact and can seem aloof. His main areathat needs help is “focus”. He responds to his name about 40-50% ofthe time. Although his receptive language is ok, it can improve. Hehas been doing ABA since he was 19 months and have seen alot of progress.

We are going to start taca’s 10 weeks to GFCF and don’t know if Ishould also put our 1.2 son on it as well. So far, our youngest hasnot shown any major flags but will closely monitor his behaviors. Wedecided not to further vaccinate him until we are comfortable (ifever) with it.

Both boys have been very healthy to date and aren’t picky eaters. (Nopoop problems, no known allergies, no ear infections, etc.). So we’regonna give the diet a try.

I look forward to learning from all of you and will try not get toooverwhelmed by the information. One day at a time right?

Just wanted to quickly say “hi”. I have a 6yo - been GFCF foralmost 2 years. For totally different reasons than most here. Iwanted to introduce myself b/c i live in RSM.

One day at a time is the best way to go. It’s rough going in thebeginning.

We have the some prob w/our 6yo. Our doc recommended the ACV also, but no go.

he then recommended: The Secret Ingredient: HONEY Raw honey in liquid formreally helps get rid of your heartburn for good. Take 1 teaspoonfulof raw liquid honey any time you begin to feel discomfort ofheartburn or acid reflux. You can also take the honey before bedtimeto help soothe your esophagus and allow healing while you sleep.Honey works fast. It’s important to use pure, unpasteurized rawhoney in liquid form. Honey has long been known to fight bacteria, block infection, combat inflammation, reduce pain, and improvecirculation. It also stimulates the re-growth of tissue.

We couldn’t get him to take it from the spoon, so we ended upfilling gel-caps (vegge caps) - two at a time.

I can email you the entire handout if you’d like.

Honey is actually one of the things that is allowed on the SCD dietand the SCD diet. SCD was created for Celiac disease so it’s GR butwhen used in ASD kids is to heal the gut and rid it of yeast andleaky gut syndrome. We use honey every day to cook with and forpancakes and my son’s yeast level is the lowest it’s ever been inhis life. Read more about it on http://www.pecanbread.comor http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info

Sasha has been GFCF for 10 months and we added SCD to his diet about2 1/2 months ago. It wasn’t until starting SCD that we saw the yeastunder control; even with him being on Diflucan and GSE constantlythe yeast always came back until we added the SCD diet.
