People who are deficient in either sulfates or magnesium may benefitgreatly from epsom salt baths. Many of our kids who have leaky gutare deficient but so are a ton of other people. People who don’t haveleaky gut or problems such as that can supplement orally. Often notpossible for our kids to do. So the baths are like taking asupplement.
Most kids who benefit from the baths are benefitting from teh sulfatepart because their sulfations systems are broken. Baths very likelydon’t detoxify you in any direct way; instead, the help your body workthey way it is supposed by giving it some missing pieces.
You can read about it here, where there is a bunch of stuff on thetopic.

I’ve copied a small part of this page below that explains things verywell. It was written by Karen deFelice who runs the enzymes andautism site:
Dr. Rosemary Waring has found that most autistic spectrum kids, andlots of others with neurological conditions, are very low in sulfate. They may be as low as 15% of neurologically typical people. Sulfateis needed for a pathway in the body that processes salicylates, phenols, chemicals of all kinds (including food colors, artificialflavoring, and preservatives), and other things the body sees astoxins. This can include heavy metals. The body may have more toxinsto process than it can because of a lack of sulfur. To alleviate theunpleasant reactions such as hyperness, aggression, tantrums, sleepproblems, night sweats, irritability, eczema, other skin conditions, etc. you can unclog this “bottleneck” by 1) getting rid of the amountof toxins that enter the body, or 2) supplying more sulfur to increasethe amount of toxins that can be processed from the body. Epsom salts(magnesium sulfate) supplies the needed sulfur. The body takes in moresulfur, more toxins are processed and you don’t see the nastybehaviors and effects.
Many people on a typical American diet are very deficient in magnesiumas well. Epsom salts also supplies magnesium. A main effectof insufficient magnesium is hyperness, irritability, anxiety andmuscle twitching or spasms. So the salts provide two-way assistance.Sulfur can also be added to the body by supplementing with MSM.
Some people may think Epsom salts work by pulling the toxins out ofthe body and into the water. Certainly you can sweat out certaintoxins like you would in a sauna, but the role of sulfate in the waterfor that process is questionable. The way sulfate in the water is mostlikely to be working is by being absorbed into the body through theskin where it can become part of the biological process ofdetoxification.
You can always google “Susan Owens” or “Rosemary Waring”and “magnesium sulfate” to get more information too.
