Stool analysis

Does anyone know the difference between the stool analysis done byGreat Smokies Diagnostic Laboratory and the one done by The GreatPlains Laboratory? My son had a stool analysis done by Great Smokies($259)in August and then we changed DAN doctors. The new doctorwants to have a stool analysis done by Great Plains ($275). Thisdoctor (or at least his nurse) seems to had a policy of not returningphone calls so I don’t have a clear understanding of why he needs thesecond one. Right now I’m unwilling to proceed with this test unlessthere is good reason.

Does anyone know the difference between the stool analysis done byGreat Smokies Diagnostic Laboratory and the one done by The GreatPlains Laboratory? Under his previous DAN doctor’s care, my son hada stool analysis done by Great Smokies ($259). We switched to a newdoctor and he wants a stool analysis done by Great Plains ($275). Heindicated that there was a difference in the two test. I have triedto contact him about what that difference is, but they done return myphone calls. If the test weren’t so expensive, I would just go aheadand do it. But at $275 I really need a good reason to proceed.

My son was diagnosed this summer with autism. He is on the GFCF diet

and taking vitamins and nutrients. His doctor recommended a

comprehensive stool analysis done. Insurance doesn’t cover this

test; I have just called the lab in White Plains and the cost is

$639. Needless to say I can’t afford to have it done at this

time. His doctor is giving him med. to take care of any yeast

problems. Would some knowledgeable parent explain to me the benefits

    of this test?

This test checks for yeast, bacteria, parasites, clostridia, secretory IgA.

I know there are others, but these are the ones that stand out to me.
