Bowel obstruction
There have been a number of interesting posts in recent weeks aboutchronic diarrhea and contstipation/bowel obstructions. I am intheprocess of aasking my pediatrician for an x-ray because I thinkthis is precisely our problem. If we find this is an obstruction, can anyone tell me how we might expect to remove it? Once it’s gone, what can we do to help heal his poor gut? Is the diet and orSerenaid going to help him heal? I’d like to have so information atmy disposal before I consult with the doctors.
Without this list I’m sure it would have taken longer for me toidentify this as a pssible problem - thank you all for taking theitme to share your experiences.

Before starting the diet my daughter had several episodes ofcompaction. It wasn’t always enough to say she hadn’t gone in acouple of days, because sometimes when they are blocked the liquidpart (forgive the grossness) still comes out. Almost mimics havingdiarrea or loose stools. I can usually tell with her when herstomach becomes distended. Sometimes she’ll get a low grade fever. When this happens we get out the enemas.

I recently read a post that someone posted about their child having a bowelobstruction. Constipation followed by diahhria….I immediately made anappointment for my son. The pediatrician saw him yesterday and agreed thatDeclan has the same problem. Thanks so much for your sharing….we have hadthis problem with Declan since he was 10 months old ( now 3 yo)…….That’s whyI spend so much time reading through all of your posts.
He is being treated this week and if it does not resolve itself by Monday…theywill have to move to more invasive treatment. I pray this works. If it doeswork they will be treating him for several months to insure that it does notrecurr.

Another example that sharing stories can make a difference! I hopeDeclan’s body can resolve this issue on it’s own, but good for youfor recognizing the problem.
