Anybody know much about new food labeling regulations?

From what I remember, new food regulations now require companies tosay if their products contain wheat, nuts, soy, etc. Or, perhaps, that will be phased in soon.

Is milk on that list? I read labels on things like Ritz crackers(one of my kids is only dairy free) and see no mention of milk, butbelow it says “contains wheat”.

Anyone know? I’m assuming milk is on that list of ingredients thatneeds to be identified on the label.

I know about food being processed on the same lines as productscontaining milk and other cross-contamination things like that.Just wondering about the new labeling requirements.

The new regulation is in place as of January 1st, but stuff that wasproduced before Jan 1 can still be on shelves so it will be awhilebefore you can trust labels.

The top 8 allergens are supposed to be listed: milk, egg, soy, wheat, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts & one more I can’t remember.

The new law will make it harder b/c some companies that use the sameline for producing items with different allergens will just list themin the allergen box making it unclear if the item is in the product ofjust produced on a line with it. But hey, it’s a step inthe rightdirection anyway.
