Phenols question
Phenols is not something that i have studied much. Butevery day i have to have my son drink juice in order to get him totake all his supplements. I have been giving him red grape juiceusually. And I noticed that when i give him apple juice, he actsworse, so i stopped the apple. But i’m wondering about the grape aswell, what other alternative do i have? White grape juice? Pear juice?(i haven’t found any pear juice at the regular grocery store) How muchis pear juice at a health food store? Because my son has been just waytoo hyper lately. And he keeps putting his hands in his mouth orelsewhere and i’ve been treating him for yeast by rotating oil oforegano and cat’s claw… It’s all a mystery at times. Maybe somedayi’ll figure it all out.

Usually the pear juice is in the baby food section, at least here inCanada. It’s generally organic too! Some people make their kidslemonade using fresh lemons and xylitol. I wish my son liked thisbecause it gets rid of the sugar problem all together. I cannotremember off hand how highly phenolic lemons are, but something toconsider. Your son might be reacting more to the sugars than to thephenols.
Sometimes putting hands in the mouth and chewing on things is a signof zinc deficiency.

I’m trying to think of all the sugar he gets during the day.Hum…he drinks juice and i use honey for baking… and once a dayhe has instant pudding which i’m gonna change because of the BHApreservative in it. Unfortunately, he’s allergic to lemons.
He’sallergic to pears too but he’s also allergic to apples. That’s why ihave been giving him grape juice because he’s not so allergic to thegrapes. He just seems to be so hyper. I’m trying to figure out why.And the first week of the diet…he slept sooo well, like til 8:30,9:00 or later! And now he doesn’t sleep that much. So, i’m wonderingabout the juice because the first week of the diet, he didn’t havethe juice, he just drank water… But then all those supplementsthat he needs… I don’t know of any other way to get him to takethem.

Just a few thoughts. When you say allergic, do you mean accordingto an IgG panel, or according to what you’ve been able to observe? It might make a difference in what you choose to do.
There are two common reasons for sleep problems with ASD kids.Phenol intolerance and yeast overgrowth. Are you giving epsom saltbaths? They can help with the phenols. Is there any reason tosuspect yeast? If so, do you have a yeast protocol?
FWIW my son had strong phenol intolerance. 1/2 tsp of tomato pasteand the night was ruined (for me, he seemed to enjoy being up). After 6 rounds of chelation, it is gone. I still give him epsomsalt baths (which had helped a bit, that’s for sure) and I don’toverload him with phenolic foods, but he is back to eatingblueberries and raspberries and tomato paste–even in the evening.Makes our lives much better and easier.
There are a number of supplements that can be quite calming forkids. Some can do the opposite. Don’t have them right in front ofme and I don’t want to make a mistake. If you’re interested let meknow.
I’ve read about quite a few instances of kids doing what your childis. Sleeping great for the first bit of the diet and then losingthat. My son did exactly the same thing. Keep searching for youranswers.
