Diarrhea/stool issue

I have 17 mos. old twin boys, with one of my sons showing signs of autism. Inthe beginning of Sept. I started the CF/GF diet with both boys. CF first and100 %, GF at about 80%-90% for the last month. Nathan (the one I am worriedabout) always had hard, marble sized poops. Alex normal. When we started onthe diet, I first used Soy milk and soy yogurt. Both boys had for 2weeks. I thought it might be the soy, so I stopped that and their stools becamenormal.

2 weeks ago, I thought I would experiment with a small amount of soy yogurt. Nathan remained normal but Alex (my “ND” son) developed diarrhea. I stopped thesoy again, but he still has diarrhea 10 days later. Now Nathan’s stools areextremely soft and sticky again (forgive me for the gross topic). (Mydefinition of diarhea is soft and sticky, like baby food, I know that a Dr.’sdefinition is different than mine).

So my questions to y’all are: What are your suggestions? Ideas? I wasreading about impactions from some of you….. What are the symptoms? The milkthey now drink is milk. Should I switch to rice? They do have eggseveryday, usually for breakfast. Those are the only two things that areeveryday items.

If anyone has an impaction, I would think it would be Nathan, as he was alwaysconstipated before the diet (although that’s not where I’m leaning). Alex(”ND”) had normal stools before the diet but now it’s mostly diarrhea. Alex ison the diet b/c he’s a twin and it’s just easier for both to get the same.

Please advise, I am really interested in your opinions.

We are seeing a nutritionist next week, who will be doing the GreatPlainstesting, and then seeing a specialist on Nov. 22nd. I would like to take somesteps before that, if I can.

First of all I believe that the diahrea you see with an impaction isrunny (more like water) than what you are describing. It’s what manages to getpast the block. I could be wrong. My suggestion is to keep a daily diary (ifyou aren’t already). Use one page/day for each of them. mark the time of any(supplements, foods, beverages) and any behaviours or symptoms you are seeing. After a week or so, you can go back and see if there is a trend. Also, is itreally stinky? It could be a yeast issue. Have you been substituting with alot of fruit, that will do it for my guy or high sugars? Just some ideas to try. Also, our Ped. likes to see a weeks worth of Connors diary to check every oncein a while (she is borderline on believing in this biomedical stuff) to get thenutritionist to go over it and make sure he is having a balanced diet.

We’ve been dealing with some soft poop issues here as well.At first we tried eliminating yeast and sugar to no avail. the wetried removing corn…also to no avail. Our situation sounded a bit like yours. We ended up going to the Naturopath and she believes he’s impacted. He was passing very mushy/stinky stools. Almost oatmeal-like. Notrunny. And he was only going every 3 days or so. We’ve taken him off CLO,increased flax powder to 2tsp a day, he’s on Unda drops (homeopathictreatment) increased his probiotic and we started doing castor oiltummy rubs. Now he’s passing “nicer” stool - more formed, not assticky and every day.

It’s so much easier doing all of those things that trying to GUESSwhat’s going on. That’s so frustrating.

I was reading about impactions from some of you….. What are thesymptoms? The milk they now drink is Almond milk. Should I switch torice?

Rotate your foods, even the “milks”.

My NT #4 had the same food issues as her brothers, and the samebiomedical interventions were very helpful for her, altho theyaddressed different issues than they addressed for my #2 and #3.
