Gfcf bakery and restaurant

I live in NYC, I’m actually about 3 blocks from the restaurant beingdiscussed, ‘Risotteria”. I’ve never eaten there, nor at “Happy Happy Happy,(because taking my son to a restaurant is like bringing a live grenade) but Iknow other moms that have taken their kids there and this is what I’ve heard. At Risoterria, they are very knowledgeable about and such, butthe pizza crust is made with powdered milk. A friend of mine talked to the chefto see if it could be modified, and he said he would look into it, but I don’tknow if that came to fruition so definately ask! As for HappyHappyHappy, the stuff looks great, but it can be a little on thepricey side and one of my friends said it was OK, but the stuff looks betterthan it tastes. I’ve never been, so I can’t say for sure. The website,www.happyhappyhappy.com, has the whole menu, plus if you sign up for the mailinglist they will send you coupons. I’ve gotten a bunch, and never could make itover there. The only reason why I’ve never gone is because the hours they areopen don’t always work for me (they’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and theydon’t open until 2pm most days.) Of course, I think I’ll have to go at somepoint, since my husband and I are renewing our vows next year and that’s theonly place I know that will make a GFCF wedding cake!

I know, everything is so expensive!!! My friend that got cupcakes fromHappyHappyHappy said that she thought the cupcakes I made from the “PineappleVelvet Recipe” were just as good if not better than theirs! Who would havethought? As for the Risoterria thing, I get the impression that they are catering moreto the celiac or wheat allergic. I mean, look at the Whole Foods line of GFstuff; most of the baked goods have dairy! It’s so annoying. FYI- A while ago I went to Long Island with a friend, and there’s a store thatcarries lots of gluten free stuff which was pretty good. I wish I could rememberthe name; it was in Mineola, I think. They had all sorts of other special dietfoods (like Atkins, etc), but their selection of GFCF stuff was good. I got abox of rainbow cookies there (you know, the sponge cake cookies that are green, pink, and yellow striped?), and they were great. Really close to the real thing. My friend got a frozen bakery-style cake their as well; she served it to herfamily and everyone thought it was good. They also had these great chickentenders by a place called “S’better Farms”, my son loved them and now I can’tfind them anywhere! Of course, I left the place with a wallet that was about$200 lighter, but so what else is new?
