Excessive ear wax
I’m having problems with my daughter with excessive ear wax. She gets it sobad that it affects her hearing. She is 9 years with down syndrome withceliac disease. She eats alot of dairy and corn tortillas. Could this be theproblem? The Ears, nose and throat doctor wants to dig it out every 3 monthsbutI want to find the root of the problem. I should also mention that she has aperforated hole in her right ear and a tube in her left ear. Does anyone haveany advice on what to use to keep the ear wax down or what to do about it.

I think I’m unusual, in that I started this diet GFCF, corn, egg, soyand nut free (and then had to go low phenol too!). But, theexcessive ear wax in my son just went away in a few weeks. It neverrequired medical attention, but was honestly just disgusting. Also,my NT daughter who had snoring, major green nose and a few earinfections also cleaned up on the above diet (milk was a majorculprit in her case). I never thought about the EFA’s, but thanksfor that info too!

During every one of our early check-up visits, ourped. used to always say that Stephen had lots of waxin his ears. Strangely enough, he never told us whatto do about it. (ie: ear wax removal kits, etc.)Anyway, Stephen had his first appointment in Aprilafter going GFCF in March and now our ped. says thathis ears are clearer. This goes right along with whatother parents on this list have said about milk andexcessive ear wax in their kids. Maybe replacing milkand dairy could help your daughter too.
