New to diet

Our son was diagnosed almost a year ago at age 2 with ASD. Over thepast year, even with aggressive ST, OT, ABA, and a special needspreschool, he is exhibiting more and more autistic behaviors andmaking little progress. That is why we decided to give the gf/cf dieta try, even though we were totally against it at first. We’ve been atit for almost three weeks (totally gf/cf for 2 weeks, as he didn’tshow any withdrawal signs.) WE are ordering the starter kit from thiswebsite, but in the meantime, I have just a few questions I washoping someone could help with.

Are antibacterial medicines (like for upper respitory infection)generally gf/cf free?

Is pure ok to use in baking? I don’t think imitationis ok……..

Are 100% juices OK? Is the calcium lactate found in ok?

What are people’s thoughts on adding magnesium, B6, DMG, and Nystatinto my son’s diet? I am in the middle of Karyn S’s book, so I’mfamiliar with what she did with her son, but I’m wondering if addingall this to my son’s diet is recommended/helpful.

Our son will eat soy and corn. However, I’ve read about many peoplewho took these out of their children’s diet because of a reaction.Does this mean that once they took out these foods, the childrenimproved dramatically with speech, eye contact, overall, or does itsimply mean they took the foods out because the child was havingloose stools, acne probs., etc. If there is any evidence that takingout soy and corn will improve speech, we will give it a try.

Many contain casein, so check with the pharmacist.

Antibiotics generally increase yeast, so give them with extraprobiotics and even increase more of your yeast protocol.

Yes, altho many of them are high phenol and feed yeast, so might be aproblem if your child has those issues

Well, you would be supplementing the diet, not adding them to thediet, at least in my opinion.

Magnesium helps with constipation and muscle cramp issues. It alsoallows you to give a higher dose of B6, if that might be required. B6is good for many kids, altho not usually for kids who are phenolintolerant. DMG can help certain kids also. Nystatin kills certainstrains of yeast.

My son tolerated soy with enzymes, but not corn. His speech, however, required much more than just diet changes
