Raw milk users
Just be careful with raw milk, raw means not pasteurized (i.e. heattreated). Therefore the bacterial load is not killed. Hence some badbacteria could still exist i.e. Tuberculosis!!. Pasteurization wasimplemented because of this! The same goes for raw milk cheese.
In Canada, it is illegal to sell raw milk and raw milk cheese. You can onlyget it by going directly to a farm (unless you live in Quebec where theyseem to flex the laws).
In France they are famous for there raw milk cheese.

Actually the threat is very small. Recent studies have shown morepeople have become ill from processed milk than from raw milk. Thereis a risk yes, but there is risk with everything. Salmonella witheggs/chicken. Ecoli with beef. Listeria with pork, ect.

So let me make sure I understand….raw milk is o.k. on a gfcf dietbut pasteurized is not? And other products made from raw milk likeraw milk cheese is also o.k. but “processed” cheese is not? Wehaven’t missed straight milk that much — rice milk has been anacceptable substitute — but we have REALLY missed “real” cheese. If raw milk cheese is acceptable, that would be awesome!!! SomehowI am skeptical…..

I do not know if raw milk is considered “safe” for a GFCF diet, but insome states, selling raw milk is illegal. You cannot buy raw milk inMichigan. There are families using raw milk who have to join a co-op,and buy a cow. If you own the cow, then the raw milk is yours too.
