Stuttering

Yes, our son is a stutterer too. For a couple of years we were so happy hetalked, we didn’t worry about it. I’ve read that if you get professionalhelp before they are 6, the less likely that they will be stutterers asadults. Something about therapy after the magic 6 makes it harder for themto remember and consistently use the techniques they learn in ST.If your child stutters for more than 6 months, it is time to seek therapy. After 12 months, they will be very concerned. This does not include the”normal” developmental stuttering that occurs around 2 - 3 years. Our sonstuttered for about 12 months when we got help.We had very good success last summer. My son was 4 1/2, almost 5. Tested asa “severe” stutterer (range was mild-moderate-severe-profound). We alsostarted the diet about the same time. After 3 months of private ST specificfor the stuttering , and 5 months on the diet, he was fixed! (>90% fluency). He occasionally slips up, and we gently remind him to go “slow, smooth, andeasy” and use our “snail speech”.

My daughter has been on the diet for 1 1/2 yrs. We had the bloodtest done and took all the offending foods away. My problem is thatevery time we give her probiotics, she starts to stutter reallybadly. Could this be die-off? I have tried colostrum, pro-bio goldfrom Kirkmans, and grapefruit seed extract. I should mention thatthis is the longest we’ve rotated flora (about a month). She iseating so much better than she used to, so much more food! Her bm’sare better and her moods are just great. In other words, it’s justthe stuttering. Can anyone help/share experiences about this?

Possibly. But my son never tolerated probiotics, so maybe it is that.

My daughter does not have Autism, but she did stutter at one pointin her language development when she was trying to talk faster thanher little brain could process. It lasted a few months. She wouldalso sometimes just talk jibberish with some real words mixed inbecause the words would just be flowing uncontrollably.

Perhaps he is getting ready for a language surge? Is he delayed? Idon’t think anyone can promise you this will go away, but you areperhaps stirring some things up in his body that are temporarilydisrupting language.
