Adding/removing supplements

I’ve been reading the string about Zinc/teeth grinding so I thought Iwould add Zinc to his regimine. I was at the hfs and there are acouple kinds of zinc… chelated zinc and zinc picolinate. What isthe difference, which one should I use and how much should I give him(he’s around 38 lbs)? The grinding is only while sleeping and hisappetite has never been great (but I have seen some improvements sincebeing off of gluten).

Also, his paternal ggm got b12 shots. I’m not sure why, familymedical history is a bit shaky since my mil not the most reliablehistorian (and ggm is dead now). However, it must have been for areason right? So, I was going to add b vits in assuming there isprobably a family history of deficiency, but when I did sublingual b12before, it just hyped him up. So, if I do a multi b, should I startwith b-50 and see how he tolerates it? If there is a seeminglyadverse reaction, should I stop right away, or give him a couple daysto see if he levels out?

On the b vit, I was thinking of asking his ped to do a b12 test at hisupcoming 5 year appointment (when I also plan to broach my concernsthat he’s on the spectrum). Is there a certain way this should bedone or a certain type of test that is more accurate? I don’t want towaste our time on a substandard test. Are there other simple tests Ishould try to ask the ped for (mainstream ped, DO)? Yeast cultures?Food allergy panels?
