Glutathione - input please

I’m sorry I know that this has most likey been discussed.Selfishly, I only read what applies to me at the time and thus farglutathione has not.Until today. My naturopath would like to be our next stepwith Cuyler. She was at the DAN! conference in September and she feels stronglythat this is where we should go with his treatment.I don’t know all that much about it as I’ve never really consideredit for Cuy. I’ll speak to her in more deatil at our next appt (wejust spoke over the phone today).

Just wondering if anyone can give me any feedback as to what changesthis has made in their child if any (good or bad).

Naturally our liver produces Glutathione. Our bodies need it formany things. Most ASD kids have such a messed up metabollic system, immune system, and other things going on with them including lowproduction of Glutathione.

My son’s glutathione level was almost 0 meaning that he isn’tproducing it. When we started on TD-Glut it seemed to help his gutissues to a certain degree. Some people claim to see other positiveeffects of it like better cognitive function but we didn’t see that.It really seemed to help gut issues. There may have been a positiveeffect that I over looked but I can’t really remember b/c we’ve beenon it for so long. You can read a lot about Glutathione atwww.wellnesshealth.com

The newest thing in injectable Glutathione. It’s just like MB-12shots but it’s Glutathione. It’s really small needles and reallysmall amount of Glut but is working really well for many children. We prefer TD b/c it’s a cream and it’s easiest for us. I believethat injectable has been shown to be more effective though. I havenot had any experience with it. You can read all about it atwww.wellnesshealth.com.

If you are uncomfortable just giving glutathione without a reason besidesyour neuropath heard about it a DAN! Convention, you can have bloodwork doneto determine what your son’s current glutathione levels are. I would besurprised if they weren’t low, but how do you know if the medicine isworking if you don’t have a baseline value? We are using the transdermalglutathione and I am looking forward to the bloodwork in January to see howwell this is working.. if it isn’t bringing it up high enough, we may trythe kind you use in a nebulizer or the infusion… I’ll have to ask my DAN!Doctor about the injectible version…

Anyone who is sick will have low glutathione levels. From what Iunderstand, it is still very controversial how much, if any, ofsupplemental glutathione will ever be absorbed/used by our body.Having said that, I just started using lipoceutical glutathione byWellness and it seems to be the ONLY supp that has had a noticeableimpact on my son’s behaviour. We see a bit more language andengagement. I have no idea really why it seems to be working. Ifyou do use lipoglut, don’t shake it.

There is thought that people with high plasma cysteine (my son seemsto be low because he also does very well on the sulfury chelators)should not be taking glutathione. There is also thought that weshould supplement to spare glut, but I can’t for the life of meremember how right now and don’t have time to look it up.

At the very least, I would recommend you go cautiously (but Irecommend that for all supps :-)). In researching for the supp fileI made, I found that many people do react to glut, but many of thoseseem to react badly.

This is not selfish, it is a very good idea, to avoid info overloadand confusion.

It can cause yeast in certain kids, so be sure you have ingredientsfor an increased yeast protocol on hand, in case you need to increase it.

I used oral glutathione for my son for about 2 weeks. It caused niceimprovements for those 2 weeks, then it caused regression so I removed it.

My daughter started the lipo-glut from Wellnessand we saw noticable improvements in language and engaging withpeers. Her teachers even had positive comments. Then after about 2weeks she just went crazy behaviorally and I couldn’t figure out whatthe problem was. I finally read that it can cause yeast and treatedher for that and she got back to normal. It was rough to see herbackslide like that. My doctor suggested trying the td-glut but Ihaven’t yet - I’m almost scared of it!
