How do you get the dr. to test for allergies?

My children are four years old they are twin boys diagnosed withAutism and have had many behavioral problems. I try to tell my doctorthat my boys have allergies to certain foods. The way I can tell mychildren have is a rash on their entire body off andon. They have sticky with sand like texture. I feelhelpless because I am a stay at home mom and have no support from mychildrens father and rely on medical. My doctor always says they willgive her the third degree if she orders these test. So I guess my kidssuffer because their insurance sucks. I have started the g/f c/f dietand I see some improvement. PLEASE if anyone has info on specifictest names I have heard of ELISA and need info on some other testsdone to screen for allergies.

Perhaps you should try to find a DAN! doc that will take your insurance.

We did the Elisa screen from York labs. It’s a kit so you can do the testat home. It is pricey.

I have the same problem here in Canada. I have had my son on thegf/cf diet and partial Feingold diet for almost 18 months now and he is doingwonderfully, although not cured. I hope you do find a way to have these testsdone however in the mean time, keep a daily diary for each of them. Here is myformat: 4 columns. 2 narrow and 2 wide. Titled: time, supplement,food/beverage/activity, behaviour/symptoms. Use one page per day, make sure towrite down everything good or bad. After a week or so you will begin to seetrends. Also, make sure not to add or change more than one thing at a time foodor supplement. This will avoid confusion as to what is causing a problem orprogress. Hope this helps some.
