Diet, stims and sleeping issues
Luca has been gfcf for 3 months. I saw an improvement in attention, eye contact, and verbal skills quickly, but only a smallimprovement. Since then he is doing ok but I attribute much of theimprovements to ABA. Anyway, the big problem I’m having is that heused to sleep 12 hours a night, now gets up at least twice andsometimes is just wide awake for hours on end at night. Any insightson this? I have also noticed an increase in stims (all kinds!) andsensory issues seem worse overall too.
Also - I started Super NuThera last week. Formed poops at last(Yay!), but lots of visual stims, spinning etc.
I am just starting to wonder if it’s worth it. It seems like for asmall improvement there’s a big price to pay. I don’t do wellwithout sleep! And of course when he has not slept well he is verywithdrawn, stimming a lot etc.
Would love if anyone has input.

It is so difficult in the begining! There were many times when I wonderedif it was all worth it. I can honestly say…YES!!
We received our diagnosis in April and if you look at my son today, you’dnever believe that he did nothing but flap and spin all day long! He didget worse in the begining, but now he very rarely flaps, only runs on histoes when he’s very tired, his eye regard is at 100% and is a million timescalmer. He still does not have formed stools, but just from the behavioraspect, he’s a totally different child.
We had another medical diagnostic done last week Tuesday and we’ll beinterested in seeing what the team comes up with. We met a new therapist onSaturday, and she was surprised when I told her we originally had adiagnosis of Autism. The rest of his team have noticed huge improvements inhis development that one of the therapists put her ADD son 16 y.o.) on thediet and has seen many improvements in him as well. He refuses to eat pizzaanymore since he knows how spacey it makes him.
It’s very difficult at first, but you will get the hang of it and thingswill start to settle down. As people always say, it gets worse before itcan get better.
That’s why there’s this wonderful group. We will all help you through itthe best we can. We’ve all experienced what you’re going through, soplease, feel free to vent and cry along with us.
I hope this helps.
