Constipation…yeast…pro-biotics…pass gas…
My son has constipation, also I believe that he has yeast overgrowth. Started afew weeks, I fed him Pro-biotics, plus more fruite. Since then, there were twodays, his bowel movement was great. We thought constipation issue would go awaysoon. However it is not. Instead, he starts to pass gas, which he didn’t dobefore. Is this a good sign or bad sign, or doesn’t mean anything?

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this way to go yet, but here goes.
My dd had a stool impaction this year. We had the KUB x-ray and metwith Dr. Jerry Kartzinel that week to evaluate it. (A hugecoincidence as he only comes to CA once a year, and she just happenedto have her impaction at the same time, lucky us.) He put her on apretty strict 5 day regiment. We gave her 1 Fleets children’s enemaevery evening, 1 tsp to 1 tbs of benefiber daily and 1 tsp ofPolyethylene Glycol daily. He described the impaction and the needfor the daily enemas very well. He talked about how an enema willclean out immediate colon area, then the body will basically “lock andload” the next section for the next day, the pull part. The benefiber(over the counter) and the Polyethylene Glycol (prescription) werethen the push from the top part of the equation to keep it all movingdown.
Eww, I know, but darn it if it didn’t work. The first 3 days I sawmore poop come out of my then 2 1/2 year old then you would havethought humanly possible. Then the last two days, I got nothing but”soft serve” (Dr. Jerry’s term). So I knew we had cleaned her out. Idropped the Polyethylene Glycol and kept up with the benefiber for 2weeks or so after and, knock wood, we have not had another impactionsince. This was in June. I kept up the benefiber because Dr. Jerrydescribed the need for the colon to shrink back to it’s normal sizeafter the impaction has stretched it out. Made sense to me.
Well, that is our story. Now the actual logistics of performing anenema on a clearly unhappy 2 year old is another story. After thefirst day she knew what was coming and was pretty unhappy, but I wasable to control her enough to do it. You may need a helping hand.
Also, when we were doing this, I heard a very funny story from anothermom doing something similar. Her dd’s teacher came out after schooland asked her about something her daughter had told her. She said,”My mommy put something in my butt!” You may want to warn theteachers if he is verbal so they don’t freak out.
