Vanillin

Does it contain gluten? My mother made choc chip cookies for my son and she called themanufacturer of the chips and they said that they were gluten andcasein free. No wheat or milk derivatives.

But they contain vanillin and I thought that was an “unacceptable”

It is on the unacceptable list. Not sure why. Must have one of them.

To my knowledge, vanillin contains neither gluten nor casein. However, it is ahighly phenolic artificial flavoring and many of our kids have severe behaviorproblems and other issues from it.

I don’t know what brand of chocolate chips were used but the ones we like(somewhat expensive though they are) are Enjoy Life. They are casein-free andmade in a gluten- and nut-free factory and are free of all sorts of othernasties.
