Mercury hair test

I’m going to order the mercury from Great Plains Lab. I seehair metal test, but I think Dana mention something else that was ininitials. I just want to make sure I get the right one.

Comprensive stool test

My son is stil in a diaper. The test says to not let the get intothe stool sample. How on earth is that possible if he has a diaper on?

Loss of asd diagnosis

We had another Medical Diagnostic done after being GFCF for 8 monthsand no longer have an diagnosis. The 3 Drs said he didn’t qualifyat all for or even ASD. So, we are now dealing with a diagnosisof Mixed Receptive-Expressive Language Disorder. It occurs in 3-5% ofchildren.

Anyone else have any experience with this?

Introduce gluten -also anyone on scd

Before my son started the gf/cf diet we did a peptide test for glutenand casein. We got the test back and it showed that casein was reallyhigh but that gluten was normal. Due to the results of the test westarted the gf/cf diet.

Since then, I have observed my sons reaction to gluten and caseininfractions. He definitly reacts badly to casein, but the few gluteninfractions we had showed no reaction at all.

My son has done well on the diet, so I hesitate to change. Has anyoneelse tried introducing gluten under similar situations and beensuccessful?

On top of everything, I am just now looking into the SpecialCarbohydrate Diet (SCD) and I would like to know what peoplesexperiences have been and how it has helped (doing it in addition todoing gf/cf). Thanks.

Trial end of diet

How long has your son been on the gfcf diet? The reason I am asking is if ithas been more than just a few weeks (I’m not sure exactly how long), even if hedoes have celiac disease the main tests will come out negative, as his body willno longer “recognize” the proteins in the way that makes the test come outpositive. Please let your doctor know how long it has been before the testingsince your son last had gluten, so he will know whether or not the results arereliable. I believe there is one test that can be done to check whether he hasthe gene for celiac even if he is still gluten-free. If he doesn’t have it,there’s no way (at least as I understand it) that he can have celiac disease. Ifhe has the gene, you don’t know if he does or doesn’t have it based on this testalone, but if you’ve already got him gluten-free with good results as far asother things, I don’t think I’d take him off the diet if I were you, at leastpermanently. Your doctor might want you to put him back on gluten for a few weeks before repeating the celiac tests you had done, but I’d really think hard before doing that if you’ve seen a lot of differencein him from going gluten and casein-free, depending on why you need theinformation regarding celiac disease. As someone else has posted to this oranother thread, the only difference it would make is if you’re considering goingoff the diet using enzymes, because the enzymes wouldn’t counteract the effectsof gluten on a celiac’s intestinal (and other) systems, much as they are likelyto help with behavioral effects of gluten. (Note, from what I understand, somekids can’t tolerate enzymes and of those who can, not all can successfully gooff the diet with them, even of those who aren’t celiac, but they are oftenhelped by them above what benefit the diet alone has.)

What changes did you see in your son from before you started him on the diet?Maybe if you post this someone who has experience with celiac disease cancomment on whether it’s likely.

Igg urine test for food allergies

I remember a while back someone posting they had done an IgG foodallergy test that was instead of blood. Does anyone knowanything about that…where it is done, how reliable compared toblood? Thanks for you help!

Lab results

i need some help with lab results…i had an IgG Elisa done and then a IgERAST done…the results are different for different foods…for example, on theElisa Comprehensive Food Panel soy has but on the RAST it came out a class0…many of the foods came out this way…how do i interpret it?

Stool analysis

Does anyone know the difference between the stool analysis done byGreat Smokies Diagnostic Laboratory and the one done by The GreatPlains Laboratory? My son had a stool analysis done by Great Smokies($259)in August and then we changed DAN doctors. The new doctorwants to have a stool analysis done by Great Plains ($275). Thisdoctor (or at least his nurse) seems to had a policy of not returningphone calls so I don’t have a clear understanding of why he needs thesecond one. Right now I’m unwilling to proceed with this test unlessthere is good reason.

Corn, celiac testing, food allergy testing

About my son…

I did an unofficial corn trial (unofficial meaning I didn’t reallytell anyone we were avoiding corn, I just watched what he was eatingand made sure he didn’t eat any obvious corn for a few days). He hadcorn last night and this morning he complained that his belly hurt andtoday he was mellower than usual, a bit obstinant but more easilynegotiable than usual and he pooped and complained that it hurt himand when I wiped he had the red circle (bm was peanut butter coloredand pasty, his usual).

Also, I cut out the vit C he was getting for the last 3 days and 2 outof 3 nights he didn’t wake up (and last night he only woke up becauseI was trying to put salve on his hive-turned-rough patch on his faceb/c he won’t agree to such things while he’s awake ;-).

We’re going to start on on enzymes in a few weeks and work onFeingold/phenols.

He has his 5 year appointment with his ped (a DO) and I’m going torequest a full food allergy panel. What do I want? IgG, IgA, IgE?All of them? I’m really going to push for this so I want to seem likeI know what I’m talking about ;-)
About me…

Now… question for any celiac folks out there. I decided to betested for celiac disease for a couple of reasons, one of which wasthat my grandmother died of stomach/colon cancer at 49 and my fatherreports she was ’sickly all her life’. I got tested before my son andI went gluten free (although I had cut back) and was told the test wasnegative. I decided to get the actual numbers recently and these weremy results:

negative is <20, weak positive is 20-30, positive is >30

Anti-TTG AbIgA 3.7Anti-Gliadin AbIgG 21.6 (weak positive)Anit Gliadin AB IgA 9.4

What the heck does this all mean? What is the difference between IgGand IgA? She said that the weak positive was okay because it balancedout somehow (I got this via the nurse, not the doctor, and my son washollering in the background so I didn’t get a good explaination). I’mconfused.

Urine peptide test

my son will be seeing a DAN in Feb.For the gluten/casein peptide test, when do i need to give him these foodsand for how long before the test for valid results.
